For the period of 29th December 2003 to 4th January 2004, the film took €874.371,00 (source: cinetel on-line). This isn't bad considering that it only opened on the 2nd January.

4 FLIES DVD from Blue Underground?
Apparently Blue Underground is working on a DVD of 4 FLIES ON GREY VELVET! This was announced at the Chiller convention on the 12th January. I'll believe it when I see it.

'new' Argento documentary DVD
Over at sazuma.com, they are selling a region 3 DVD called 'The Masters of Cinema - Dario Argento'. However, it appears to be a repackaged version of the 'EYE FOR HORROR' documentary.

IL CARTAIO US screenings
There will be free screenings of IL CARTAIO Thursday, February 26th at 11.00 and Monday March 1st at 15.00. The shows are to be held in Santa Monica as a part of the American Film Market's Premiere Screenings - they did the same with NONHOSONNO. Registration is free, just go here:

Latest DAEMONIA concert
They will appear on Saturday February 21st at the INDIAN SALOON in Milano. They will play a DAEMONIA version of the IL CARTAIO main theme

French TRAUMA DVD
There is a new DVD on the way from Metropolitan due for release on the 9th March. It is 2.35:1 anamorphic PAL, region 2 with a Dolby 5.1 soundtrack in French and English.

Anchor Bay to release IL CARTAIO
It appears that Anchor Bay have won the rights to THE CARD PLAYER in the US. They may also consider a theatrical release ahead of any DVD.

Dawn of the Dead CD
You may be interested to know that the Dawn of the Dead (Incidental Music) soundtrack is coming out on 19th May. It includes 'The Gonk' - the funny shopping mall muzak. You can pre-order the CD's and Limited Edition LP's at moviegrooves here (sound samples here too!)

Il Cartaio, Dario and Profondo Argento at FrightFest 2004
I spoke to Alan today and he said that they will be showing Dario Argento's latest film Il Cartaio at FrightFest 2004. Dario has said he will attend and Alan's new book will finally be given the launch it needs at the event.

FrightFest 2004 will be going ahead and taking place at the usual venue, London's Prince Charles Cinema just off Leicester Square during the August bank holiday. It's early days yet, so events could change but things look promising. Be there!

Anchor Bay IL CARTAIO confirmation
Anchor Bay have confirmed that they will be releasing the film. No decision on a theatrical release yet but definitely a Special Edition DVD.

Dario at FrightFest confirmation!
As previously reported, Dario will be at FrightFest 2004 to introduce the English premiere of IL CARTAIO and to sign copies of Alan Jones new book which will be launched the same weekend. Incidentally, PROFONDO ARGENTO is the most lavish book that FAB have ever produced and both Alan and Harvey are excited about it.

ILCARTAIO in Amsterdam
The film will be shown several times during the 20th Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival (14-21 April). See www.afff.nl for details.

IL CARTAIO released in Greece
The Card Dealer will open in Greece (with Athens a priority) on the 23d of April. The distributing company is Spentzos Film, one of the oldest and also one of the major Greek distributors of big Hollywood blockbusters but indies as well. Press screenings took place yesterday.

Il CARTAIO and Claudio
Claudio Simonetti will be at DEAD BY DAWN 2004 in Edinburgh on Friday April 23rd for the premiere of IL CARTAIO with an intro, Q&A and music at 17:45 - 20:20. A Claudio Simonetti signing will take place in Cinema Two 20:30 - 22:00 with a special performance on the piano.
