| 04th October 2003 The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things Winona Ryder, Vin Diesel, Jeremy Renner and Daryl Hannah will now star in the new Asia movie The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things. I've been told Tom Sizemore was fired by Asia who is directing the picture and also co-wrote the script. The film is based on J.T. Leroy's book. Leroy lived with Asia for two weeks when he toured Italy last year. |
| 05th October 2003 100 scariest movies Dario and Alan Jones have just finished contributing to a program that will air on Bravo in the US (not UK) that features SUSPIRIA and DEMONS amongst the 100 scariest movies of all time. This is not to be confused with the Channel 4 program in the UK at Christmas which is a different project, however it does also feature SUSPIRIA. |
| 13th October 2003 Italian PHENOMENA DVD Finally, PHENOMENA will be released by Medusa this November. But the BAD news is that it will be a full frame transfer not 1.66:1! There is no English audio track but only Italian (5.1 & 2.0) with optional English & Italian subtitles. It seems that it could be the 'Integral' version. |
| 03rd November 2003 Door Into Darkness Dvd! Yes, the four Italian TV specials (La Bambola, Il Tram, Testimone Oculare, Il Vicino di Casa) from the 70's are coming to DVD from Dragon. It comes in a digipack (similar to the Dragon Phenomena release). The disc has all four stories plus a new introduction for each episode by Luigi Cozzi. It is in Italian with optional English and German subtitles. Thanks to Alan at SGM for the heads up. |
| 10th November 2003 Trieste Film Festival 2003 The SCIENCE PLUS FICTION FESTIVAL/FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DELLA FANTASCIENZA takes place from November 25th to 30th 2003. Dario receives an award on Saturday the 29th. They will be showing the documentary AN EYE FOR HORROR which was specifically requested by Dario. |
| 15th November 2003 Italian STENDHAL DVD Finally, LA SINDROME DI STENDHAL is coming from Medusa. It should be released this December in a 2 Disc Set (Contains 'Interview with Dario & Asia'). Again there is no English audio track. It seems this could be the original longer Italian cut. Widescreen anamorphic format with Italian DD 5.1 & 2.0 with optional English & Italian subtitles. Interviews and the usual biographies/filmographies. |
| 15th November 2003 Italian PHENOMENA DVD update I can confirm that the forthcoming PHENOMENA DVD from Medusa will be the 111 minute 'Integral' version. It's due for release on 26th November. Please note: It will be in the 1.33:1 ratio. |

| 30th November 2003 Dario interview in CIAK The December issue of the main italian cinematic magazine CIAK features a nice interview with Dario as Stefania Rocca questions "her director" and makes him confess his obsessions and fears. |

| 04th December 2003 RIP David Hemmings Actor David Hemmings, beloved by all Argentophiles for his performance in DEEP RED has died aged 62. He suffered a heart attack at the end of a days filming a new movie called Samantha's Child in Romania. |
| 08th December 2003 La Terza Madre/The Third Mother news! Alan Jones has just sent me a report on the Trieste Film Festival where Dario revealed some news about his next film: “I’m working on the script for La Terza Madre/The Third Mother now. We will start shooting in August 2004 and a major Hollywood studio may possibly get involved. It’s about mysticism, alchemy, terrorism and Gnosticism (a religious movement characterized by a belief in intuitive spiritual knowledge, regarded as a heresy by the Christian church). So many heretics were tortured because of the Church and I’m living all that at the moment and sleeping with difficulty." "It will be set in Rome where we will first see the Mother of Tears/Mater Lachrymorum in medieval times. Because she is the most beautiful and cruel of the three mothers, I’m currently looking at Russian models to play that part. Ana Pieroni (who played the cat-stroking mother in Inferno) will not be reappearing as she now has five kids! It’s been over 20 years since I left the Three Mothers behind and it’s good to go back and explore the story from a retrospective perspective. I’m discovering more about witchcraft than ever before”.
